A literary aspect to the coffee morning!
Getting into a good book.
Preparing to caffeinate!
As the Local Editor for Newcastle/Gateshead I was asked to host a Mumsnet Local Tassimo coffee morning using the Tassimo Vivy and a variety of their T-Discs drink capsules. The chance to get together with other Mumsnetters, drink coffee and consume biscuits sounded too good an opportunity to miss. So of course I said ” Yes.”
Sunderland Road Community Library very kindly let me host the event at the library and made us feel very welcome.
We had lots of wonderful Mumsnetters and children attend and it wasn’t long before we got down to the serious business of testing the Tassimo Vivy machine and the drinks on offer. We had a varied selection available to try: Suchard, Kenco Colombian, Costa Americano, English Breakfast tea, Carte Noire Latte Macchiato, Cadbury, Costa Cappuccino, Carte Noire Latte Caramel Macchiato and Carte Noire Cappuccino.
The Tassimo Vivy was really easy to use. It’s so simple, even a teen with a sluggish disposition on a school morning can operate it without any issues. As tested by my teenage son, producing a lovely hot drink to help with the morning humanising process. The Tassimo is quite stylish in design and I like its compact nature, yet it is also quite a quiet machine, a feature that is very much in its favour. So simple to operate, you add water to the compartment, place your T-Disc into the slot, click the lid back into place and the clever little machine will read the barcode on the T-Disc and know exactly how to make the beverage of your choice.
I loved the amount of variety available with the T-Discs, from an assortment of coffee types, teas and hot chocolates, it makes it quite a versatile drinks machine. After it has made your drink, it automatically gives itself a steam clean, so that there is no drink cross contamination.
I tried the Costa Americano, which is quite similar to ones I have bought in coffee shops. For the purpose of the review I also forced myself to try the Suchard hot chocolate. It was quite chocolatey, which certainly isn’t a negative, enjoyable to drink and not too sickly like some chocolate drinks can be. The feedback provided from Mumsnetters at the coffee morning trying the drinks appeared positive. They certainly took their roles seriously with plenty of drink testing and biscuit consumption taking place.
Some of the younger Mumsnetters-to-be certainly seemed to enjoy the hot chocolate drinks, they went down very well!
Hosting the event in the library made for a lovely atmosphere, as it was such a welcoming venue. The children had a great time playing with toys and also looking at books in the children’s library area.
It was really fun hosting the coffee morning. I got to meet some lovely Mumsnetters and children who made it a lovely, friendly event.
Disclaimer- I was sent a Tassimo Vivy and a selection of T-Dics to use while hosting the coffee morning, but all opinions about the product are my own.
Thank you to Sunderland Road Community Library, Gateshead for letting us host the event at the library.
